LOVE FUND
We currently have ZERO FUNDS available in our LOVE FUND.
Help us prepare for the holiday season where we know there are many people within our church community and in the area who may need a little assistance.
If you can provide a financial donation to the LOVE FUND we will be able to help more families than we already are. Please designate on your check or envelope – LOVE FUND.

Stewardship Drive 2009
Stories to Tell & Gifts to Share
For the next four weeks the congregation will focus on storytelling and on giving—so that all can see that both storytelling and giving are part of our grateful responses to the grace of God.
We will be focusing on four Bible stories to engage and inspire us to see more clearly the role we play in God’s ongoing work of grace. Belonging to God means living gratefully and gracefully in response to God’s love. Being an active Christian means living your faith and having the church community as a vital part of life and giving what you can back to God. Giving to the church can be both a duty and a delight.
In fact these are the four themes of the Month:
November 2 Graceful Living. The first and probably the most important thing to say about how we live is that we live as a response to grace. This is what is meant by graceful living: living as people who know that life itself is a gift of grace and that everything comes from God.
November 9 Grateful Living. People who are touched by God’s love become grateful people who want to give generously to God and to others. Giving is a natural response to love and a typical expression of love. As our lives are transformed by the love of God, we will become ever more aware of how many gifts we have received and we will want to share those gifts with others. Grateful people become generous people and the difference God’s love has made in our lives will have a noticeable effect on how we relate to all people—friends and family and co-workers and strangers.
November 16 Giving to the church can be both a duty and a delight. Giving to the church includes both individual giving to congregations and congregational giving to mission support through synods. The Bible presents such giving as something we ought to do (a duty) but also as something we may want to do (a delight). Sacrificial giving becomes cheerful when we give out of a grateful response to God’s grace.
November 23 Cheerful Sacrifice. GIVING WEEK This Sunday is full of excitement where we even have our pre-school and after school children sing and cheerfully giving their gifts to the congregation. We all have gifts to share. We have blessings in abundance, and we are invited to give. God sets before us one more gift – a freely offered opportunity to find the joy of giving and the fulfillment that is there for us as we open our hearts to give.

St. Olaf Cookbook
This is not your Grandmother’s Cookbook. It is a book for a new generation in a very different world. Please help us create a cook book for even the younger generations which include meals that are for the fast paced family and the healthy conscious.
We hope to have a book ready to sell for the Christmas holidays, but we can’t go forward until we receive the recipes from you. Old and new… we all can have a part of this wonderful resource produced by St. Olaf and THE BRIDGE.
Please bring or send recipes to the church office or contact: Kim Wishart 714-614-4397.
The Lutheran Magazine

The Lutheran magazine belongs to the people of the ELCA in all our diversity. The magazine:
- Nurtures awareness of Christ's presence in our lives and the world.
- Shares stories of God's people living their faith.
- Connects us with the global Christian community.
- Provides an open forum for discussion.
- Challenges us to bring God's grace and care to all.
The St Olaf Wold Foundation has graciously offered to supply each active and new member family of our congregation a yearly subscription to the Lutheran Magazine. The interest earned in our Trust fund is to be used to improve the Spiritual Education of our congregation and to help in special ministries.
Sunday Morning Donuts
St. Olaf is now requesting families to pick up donuts for Sunday morning worship services. You don’t even have to pay for the donuts, just go to Krispy Kreme before the Traditional Worship service and pick up our Sunday Morning order. Families can be reimbursed for their expenses through the office. Please sign up if you are interested.
We also have fundraising cards which make donuts about 50% off. Call the office to find out how many dozen donuts to purchase, if you need to borrow a fundraising card, or if you want to sign up to help bring our yummy treats!
SUNDAY MORNING INSPECTOR
We are looking for a volunteer to prepare the church on Sunday between services. As we continue to be an extremely busy church campus we also continue to struggle with our janitorial needs. It would be GREAT to have the facilities READY-TO-GO FOR EACH MINISTRY but to make this happen we all need to work together.
All four of the Pastors who share ministry in our church have agreed that each of us must have someone in our community that will make sure everything is cleaned up and secured for the next church group.
St. Olaf needs just such a person to stay a few minutes after each service to clean up and be sure everything is in order. COULD YOU BE THAT PERSON?
Please contact Janet in the church office if you are interested in volunteering for this very important ministry.
Children's Worship
We believe that coming together to worship God is essential for growing Christians in a community of worshipers, we learn more about God and God’s plans, and we can support one another in living in a way that reflects God’s love and care. Thanks to the creative talents of Anna Roehmann and Diane Cox we are able to offer our children small activity bags to be used during worship.
Pick up a “Busy Bag” from the back of the worship facility. These activity bags are filled with many things that aid children’s understanding of God and worship. Please return the bags to the activity tree after worship.
If children are able to read, share a bulletin with them, use your finger as a guide to liturgy or hymns.
Bring a children’s Bible and help them find the Old and New Testament scripture readings of they are able to follow along or look at a picture of the scripture for the service.
Help Our Youth
St. Olaf Lutheran Confirmation and Senior High Youth are sponsoring a recycling program for your used ink jets, cell phones, and laser cartridges. It's easy to make a difference!
There are recycling boxes in the church office, church entrance and preschool office. Just drop them off and we will take care of the rest!
Send Kids to Camp
Church Youth have also created a recycling program for soda bottles and cans with all recycling funds going toward a scholarship to send St. Olaf kids to Camp Yolijwa in the San Bernardino mountains.
