California Lutheran University

Dear Wold Foundation Board and St. Olaf Lutheran Congregation,
This week at Cal Lu, we celebrated our annual Founder’s Day which acknowledges all the people in the past who have made it possible for students like me to attend such a wonderful and highly acclaimed university. As I participated in these events I was reminded that I have my St. Olaf Lutheran Church family to thank for helping me receive the opportunity to share the excitement of this privilege. Cal Lutheran was a perfect choice for me and I am having an absolute blast being here!
St. Olaf Lutheran is now a major component of my Cal Lutheran experience and my growing faith life. I want to thank you for your financial contribution toward my tuition bill and making this possible for me. As a Congregational Partner, California Lutheran University matched your gift and has greatly helped ease the monthly payment my parents are making to pay off my student account.
I will always be available to speak to you regarding the opportunities here at Cal Lu for any college student. Thanks for being such a loving and caring family for me!
Peace be with you always!
Kirstin Lee Scheer
Each year the interest earned from the Wold Foundation is put to use assisting in the spiritual Education of our congregation and it’s ministries.

Dear Pastor Scheer and Friends at St. Olaf Lutheran Church:
On behalf of the Cal Lutheran community, I send greetings from the University. Your financial support of Kirstin Scheer through the Congregational Partners in Education (CPE) program is evidence of your support for this student’s pursuit of Lutheran higher education. The benefits of directing your money in support of this member in this way are numerous. First, your gift is matched dollar for dollar up to $2,500 by the university, which maximizes your faithful effort to make a wise investment in this student’s future. This award also allows congregations to support young people who have demonstrated a commitment to the life and work of that congregation and allows the University to show its support for those efforts.
At the very core of California Lutheran University’s mission is the mentoring and education of leaders who are “strong in character and judgment, confident in their identity and vocation, and committed to service and justice.” We believe that a college of the Church provides an excellent setting for the development of such future leadership for our society. Your contribution to the Congregational Partner in Education program is an affirmation of that conviction and a strong sign of support for this member of your congregation.
Sincerely Yours
Rev. Arne Bergland
Director of Church Relations
FAMILY BIBLE STUDY
Classes are held each Sunday 9:15am in the Fireside Room.
Confirmation Class
Our program here at St. Olaf is an intensive two year faith study geared primarily toward the seventh and eighth grade classes, but can be adapted to meet the needs of those youth who need to affirm their faith.
There are many facets that are studied including the Bible (both Old and New Testaments), prayer, Luther’s Small Catechism (including the Lord’s Prayer, the 10 Commandments, Apostle’s Creed, Baptism, Communion, Office of the Keys), worship life in the church, the meaning of the birth, the cross and the resurrection and learning about God’s grace.

The Wold Center for Youth Ministries is a long awaited, and much needed, place for our youth to gather and share in the ministry of Christ. We look forward to the many years ahead, during which we will be providing a safe haven, programming, and worship for the youth, both those within our parish and the surrounding community.
Sunday School
We’re looking for all the children we didn’t see last year!
We extend a hand of welcome to the children who did not participate in Sunday School this past year! Sunday School is such a fun, worthwhile hour each week, and it’s a great place to help children begin to form the church friendships that we hope will continue through their high school years. We look forward to welcoming YOUR children to Sunday School
This fall we will be using Group Publishing’s Church School Curriculum HANDS ON BIBLE.
Time to celebrate the start of a new way to do church school!
